Milano – 13th – 15th October 2006

16 Oct

Finally, after 8 very long month I went back home for the weekend. No hard feelings, there was a very important Kenyan holiday in the middle and as I happen not to be the richest person in the world one has to prioritise, don’t you agree? :) Anyways, I have been waiting for this weekend a long time and Friday around lunchtime I took off….by the way, I was checked in to my flight since Thursday afternoon. Not keen at all, hey?

So, on my way to the airport with my transport angel Magnus and the traffic is a nightmare, but the sun is shining and considering the hangover from the night before things can only get better. Heathrow is in sight, Terminal 1 is approached very quickly and in no time I am on my way through security. Oh yes, don’t you even think about keeping any sort of make-up or even a lighter in your hand luggage, that is something you can buy within the airport – AFTER security – at a higher price. Whatever…my plane is on time….. surprising….and in no time we are high above the skies direction continent. My neighbour has decided that his middle seat is definitely to small and I find his elbow in my ribs. The sandwich is disgusting and the fruit salad is a joke ( may I summarise : 1 piece of pineapple, 1 piece of apple, 1 piece of orange and 1 piece of something I’m not quite sure what is is and of course 1 grape).

We approach the alps and the view is simply stunning, not long to go now. Milan Linate is about 20 minutes by cab from the centre of town and even though it’s a small airport and you need to take a bus from the plane to the terminal, it has a lot of advantages. I’m not even going to talk about those 2 idiots that tried to nick my cab (NOT happening my friend!!), but I’m finally home!

After dinner I meet up with Dada and Puky at Hora Feliz, a small cuban bar near Via Torino. Loads of people around and it takes us ages to find somewhere to park, even our “good luck song” doesn’t seem to be working. Have you ever seen 2 nutters in a car with Ipod plugs in their ears (one each!) and singing as loud as possible? Yes…… very sad indeed.

Puky and Dada

Puky left for New York the next morning. One whole week all by himself, just to explore the city and have a good time. Funnily enough he flew via London :)

I wonder what he’s up to right now ?? Enjoy your week darling, you have deserved it!

And this is me, obviously….

How big are those eye-bags???? No comment!!! Let me tell you they do a fantastic Frozen strawberry Maergarita there…mmmm. Dome joined our little party after his football game and a few chats and drinks later I passed out in bed. Sooooooooo tired. No rest though……

9am the next morning, off to the hairdresser, quick lunch at home and catching up with Bene and Stefano for a coffee a Bar Radetzki (there we go with the spelling nightmares again….)

Eccoci, io e la mia ‘cletta!! … and I really need to buy those glasses! What do you think???

Oh I love my new phone. The camera is just simply fantastic!!! More to come, just be patient. So….off we go, back to Bene’s house and poor Artu had to model a little coat I brought from London. I just couldn’t help it, and he does not look happy….. trust me, has not been harmed in any way!!!

So, after a brief stop we walked around the corner to….umpf, can’t remember the name, but it’s a great bar for aperitivo. Finally the guest of honor arrived, which for once wasn’t me (ha ha, can’t expect that all the time can’t I?). Francesca, or rather Fra will be giving birth to a little baby girl in a few weeks time. I had not seen her for ages, so it was pretty obvious that we had to meet up before the big event!

Too bad my eyes are closed, but isn’t she beautiful??? I’ll be back in Milan in a month time and that should be the weekend when little baby Beatrice will be born. And I know she’ll be true beauty like her mom! Unfortunately the mom-to-be had to leave us after a short while and we caught up with Simo, Ade, Ste e Dome for a dinner somewhere in the outskirts of Milan. Osteria Mangia e Tas , this means something like “eat and shut up” and the food truly proved its name :)

Ade had a little scooter accident the day before I arrived, thank godness nothing bad happened and she just has a few bruises and has to wear one of thos lovely neck-thingies for a week. Plus, she was very well looked after by a lovely paramedic….. to be continued, hopefully :) Ade, keep me posted!

Bene , Ste and Dome (so sorry I cut your face off…..)

We concluded a brilliant evening with lots of vine, laughs and lots and lots and lots of really good food. Once more I literally passed out early in the morning. :) What a classic!

Sunday was rather uneventful in comparison. Big lunch in the family, my brother and his girlfriend Christin were visting as well. 2 o’ clock came around way too quickly, and there I was on the road again direction airport. The checkin was done in no time, security as well and up in the air direction London Heathrow. Now I am above all, just very tired. And I have written way too much, What can I say, I miss home…. a little bit! :) Raga, tra un mese torno e gia’ adesso non vedo l’ ora. Vorrei combinare entrambe le mie vite in uno, ma mi sa che prima o poi dovro’ fare una decisione….e quella sara’ dura. VVB.
